The Custodial Technician Training and Certification Program was developed by CMI more than 20 years ago and has been helping cleaning operations adopt best practices ever since. The program, which is regularly updated and refined, is designed for frontline custodians and teaches basic and advanced skills in all areas of commercial building cleaning.
CMI’s Custodial Supervisor Training and Certification course is divided into three sections, each of which covers a particular area of supervising and managing custodial and/or maintenance work.
CMI’s Train the Trainer course is held six to eight times each year at locations across the country. The three-day course provides the tools and skills you’ll need to implement a training program for your custodial team or to enhance your current program. The Train the Trainer program meets the training requirements set forth in both ISSA’s Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) and Green Seal’s GS-42.
Learn the ins and outs of professional carpet care, including spotting and stain removal, daily care, interim maintenance techniques and deep cleaning using extraction.
This program is specifically focused on customer service in a custodial environment from handling complaints, difusing confrontations, taking ownership of tasks, getting along well with other members of the team and much more.
From daily maintenance to scrub and top coat to a full strip and refinish, CMI’s basic and advanced floor care certification can help turn your staffs into floor care experts.
This one-day course covers all aspects of cleaning and its relation to sustainability. Sustainable cleaning is a much broader and encompassing term that includes not only the products and processes, but long-term environmental, social and financial impacts related to the cleaning and maintenance of a facility or building.
Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) certification applies to management, operations, performance systems and processes. Compliance with the Standard demonstrates an organization is structured to deliver consistent, quality services that are designed to meet the customer’s needs and expectations.

The EcoLogo Program, which is managed by TerraChoice Environmental Marketing, provides customers – public, corporate and consumer – with assurance that the products and services bearing the logo meet stringent standards of environmental leadership through rigorous research and comparison of scientifically relevant criteria that reflect the entire lifecycle of the product.

More time and money are spent on floor care than any other process. We provide technical and programmatic solutions for the daily and long-term cleaning and maintenance of hard floor surfaces. A good program of vacuuming, dusting and damp and wet mopping can make a positive impact on visitors and building occupants and minimize exposure to harmful soil and bacteria. Project-based floor care tasks like stripping, refinishing and sealing hard floors are a critical part of maintaining a positive image and prolonging the life of your hard floor.
In addition to our regular coverage of infection and outbreak control, we bring you special coverage of developing disease outbreaks with timely coverage of the spread of the disease and the ways you can mobilize your staff to protect your facilities and their inhabitants from cross-contamination. Restrooms are the source of more building occupant complaints than any other area of the facility. We address this from the tasks for daily restroom care and maintenance to the more challenging topics of tile and grout cleaning, odor control and preventing cross-contamination through sanitization and disinfection. In addition, we follow the product and technology trends surrounding restroom care, including no-touch cleaning, the use of microfiber cloths and measuring the cleanliness of surfaces.
The safety of workers and security of building occupants and their property has never been as important as it is today. We cover safety issues like personal protective equipment (PPE), material safety data sheets (MSDS), chemical safety, ergonomic equipment trends and procedures and slip, trip and fall issues.
